An Ait Ben Haddou tour is one of the most searched phrases in Moroccan travel, and it is also one of the most misleading, because almost nobody sells the kasbah by itself to people leaving Marrakech. On this site nobody does. Everything listed here is a multi-day Sahara trip, and the ksar is the first landmark the road delivers.
The geography explains why. The road south out of Marrakech climbs the High Atlas by the Tizi n’Tichka pass, and the ksar stands on the far side of the mountains, on the way towards Ouarzazate. Every route heading for the dunes goes that way, so the kasbah appears on listing after listing. Turning round there and coming straight back means paying for the mountain crossing twice and seeing no desert at all.
So the practical question is not which Ait Ben Haddou tour but how many days you are buying. Two days gets you the kasbah and the nearer dunes at Zagora; three days adds Todra Gorge and the big dunes of Erg Chebbi and usually ends somewhere else; four days is the private version.

Read the title before you pay — it is the single most common thing people get wrong. The lowest figure of the eight is a three-day tour with a private tent and meals, 2,415 reviews at 4.7; we still quote $71 as our from-price because that is the cheapest of the mainstream routes.
